Shipping is a dynamic industry and I should know… I’ve been in it for a lifetime. Obviously technological changes have made it more efficient, but at the same time, trade dynamics have increased the complexity of import/export processes.

I’ve also seen it from both sides, first as a shipping manager and now on the freight side, so I can readily understand clients’ needs. It really shows you how important personal relationships and trust are to the successful running of the business. How well you can work together is just as fundamental as the need to move goods around the world. Though technology and trade routes have changed, those principles remain similar over decades.
